Decision 2008: Presidential Power Rankings Week #31.

Here are your end of the month rankings, and also dont forget to miss tomorrow's show at 3:00 eastern time at http://blogtalkradio.com/politics-central

Republicans

1st: Rudy Giuliani (rising) His lead nationally has impressed me so I will put him in the number 1 slot this week.

2nd: Mitt Romney (steady) If he can hold on to his lead in Iowa and NH he could very well be the next nominee of the republicans.

3rd: Fred Thompson (rising) Now what seems to be a must win for Thompson has swung to McCain and Giuliani. South Carolina is now at the top of his must win states list.

4th: John McCain (steady) Many are saying he is out of this race, but I wouldn't be so sure. Polls show his numbers in SC and NH strong and its still early. He is the same choice for the GOP being well-known experienced and most of the time conservative.

5th: Mike Huckabee (rising) I am betting that Huckabee gets a strong finish at Ames. He needs it if he wants to stay in this race.

6th: Newt Gingrich (steady) His polls are dwindling day by day. Maybe he wont get into this race as we had thought he would.

7th: Sam Brownback (steady) So far doing well with being the most conservative he needs at least a 3rd or 4th finish at Ames to be taken seriously.

8th: Ron Paul (steady) His fundraising is impressive and polls are started to look brighter for the congressman even though he still doesn't have a shot. Maybe he will make a 3rd party run to continue on to the general election.

9th: Tommy Thompson (steady) His campaign needs at least a 3rd place finish at Ames to survive. If he doesn't he is done.

10th: Duncan Hunter (steady) Is he still running? It doesn't seem like it. he isn't going anywhere.

11th: Tom Tancredo (steady) Still dead last in most polls and is already looking at his re-election campaign in 2008 instead of his presidential run.

12th: Chuck Hagel (steady) It really doesn't seem he will run for president or for the U.S. Senate in 2008. I think he will likely just retire with the buzz gone about a possible independent run with Mike Bloomberg.

(RIP: Jim Gilmore for President campaign)

Democrats

1st: Hillary Clinton (steady) I have to say her debating skills are getting better and better. She looks to be the favorite in the race still and her numbers keep going up and up.

2nd: Barack Obama (steady) Some new national polls show him closing in but he still barely makes a dent in states where the race counts.

3rd Tied: John Edwards (steady) Edwards is now having to fight for what seemd to be an easy win for him. Iowa is now tossing back and forth between him and Hillary. This is a must win state for him. Without it he is over.

3rd Tied: Bill Richardson (steady) Good debate performances and double digit numbers in NH and Iowa give him a 3rd place tie. If he can get at least 3rd in both Iowa and NH and win Nevada he may have a shot at being the darkhorse candidate we have been waiting for.

5th: Joe Biden (steady) He isn't goign anywhere. The debates just dont seem to help him at all no matter how well he performs. He should look at whatever Richardson has been doing.

6th: Dennis Kucinich (steady) Kucinich proves to be leading the 2nd tier in debates but how can he fair in polls when he averages about 1%.

7th: Chris Dodd (steady) Its sad to see such an experienced leader doing so poorly in polls and support. We all no he doesn't have a prayer.

8th: Mike Gravel (steady) Debates are doing well and he ahs doubled hsi support form half of a % to a whole 1%! Not much of an accomplishment but for his campaign it is.
