2006 Midterm Election Update #13: ELECTION DAY RESULTS!, DEMS take the House and the Senate comes down to 1.

Well yesterday was a great day for the Democratic Party. Congratulations to them gaining the U.S. House of Representitives and most likely the U.S. Senate. Nancy Pelosi will become the first female Speaker of the U.S. House and Harry Reid will most likely be Majority Leader is the senate. Races across the country were decided by just a few votes. The Democrats in the Senate picked up Pennsylvania with a Casey win, Ohio win with a Brown win, Rhode Island with a Whitehouse win, Missouri with a McCaskill win, and Montana with a Tester win. The control of the senate comes down to one race. The Virginia U.S. Senate Race will decide who controls the senate in 2007-2009. Incumbant GOP U.S. Senator George Allen and Dem. Challeger and fmr. U.S. Naval Secretary are going at it with inly about 6-7,000 votes separating them from each other. Webb currently holds the lead and votes are still being counted. Allen has yet to call a recount, but he might in the next few hours and days. Webb will most likely win this race, and give the control of the Senate to the Democrats. For the first time in over 16 years democrats gain control of governorships. This was no surprise. In Montana, Sen. Conrad Burns has yet to concede to Jon Tester, although that race was called about 4 hours ago. In Virgina Webb has called victory and Allen says votes are still being counted, so he will not give up. Lawyers are lining up in Virginia to decide the fait of the U.S. Senate. Democrats gained almost twice as many house seats neede to gain control of the house, and ten have yet to be called. In the Wyoming U.S. House Race no winner has been called and the Associated Press says it is too close to call. Incumbant Barbara Cubin holds a slim 970 vote lead over Democratic Businessman Gary Trauner. They have left automatic recount territory and in a week from now a commission will meet to see if a recount is needed and if Cubin will win reelection.
