2006 Midterm Election Update #14: Democrats officially takeover Congress! 2008 Presidential Race officially begins!

Well yesterday Sen. George Allen decided to concede the race for his seat in Virginia to Dem challenger Jim Webb giving Democrats control of both houses of congress. No one saw this coming especially me. My predicitons were wrong in 3 senate races, but my Wyoming Governor and U.S. House Rcaes were dead on! This will be my final 2006 Midterm Election Update. In Wyoming GOP Incumbant Congressman Barbara Cubin will likely win another term, since Gary Trauner decided not to call for a recount she barely won with just 970 votes separating Cubin from Trauner.

Wyoming U.S. House District
(R)Barbara Cubin 93,197 48%
(D)Gary Trauner 92,227 48%
(L)Thom Rankin 7,465 4%

Now on to the 2008 Presidential Race!
Yesterday Democratic Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack officially announced his intention to run for president of the United States in 2008 probably due to the huge Democratic victory. Today Arizona GOP U.S. Senator John McCain has set up his exploratory committee for a presidential run in 2008 and will be on "Meet the Press" to make an official decision, and I feel he will annouce he is a candidate for president. GOP California Congressman Duncan Hunter has also officially annouced he is a candidate for president. More Democrats who have announced their candidacies or have set a memo about their run are Connecticut U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd, and Delaware U.S. Senator, soon to be Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joseph Biden, and Former Alaskan U.S. Senator Mike Gravel. America will go to the polls on November 4th, 2008 to decide the 44th president of the United States and Politics-Central will be here every step of the way!
