Decision 2008: Frist quits and Gilmore to decide. Tancredo and Gingrich news.

Outgoing U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has decided not to make a 2008 presidential bid and has decided to leave the game of politics altogether and supposedly return to a medical career or just retire. He did not seek a third term in the 2006 Midterm elections, and Bob Corker will be replacing him in the senate. Former GOP Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore has announced interest in the 2008 Presidential bid and should decide in early 2007. If he decides not to make White House run he will likely run for another term as governor in 2009. Colorado U.S. Congressman Tom Tancredo made a big mistake when stating "you would nerver know you were in the United States of America". He went on to say " you would think you were in a third world country. Tancredo has been blasted and this might hurt his presidential chances ina key primary like Florida. Fmr. U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said in a New Hampshire stop that the President Bush should " admit defat in Iraq". He went on to say freedom of speech should be fixed to meet the high threat of terrorism. He said a different set of rules for free speech should be added. A new Rasmussen poll is out showing how well announce Democratic Presidential Hopeful and Outgoing Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack would fair against Republicans John McCain and Mitt Romney. Here are the Results

2008 General Election Match-ups Rasmussen Reports

(R)John McCain 49%

(D)Tom Vilsack 32%

(D)Tom Vilsack 39%

(R)Mitt Romney 35%

Of course McCain would defeat Vilsack, but Vilsack defeating Romney on there is a surprise. Romney has been falling in numbers and this dip might change his mind about running for President, however he still is a likely candidiate.
