Decision 2008: Presidential Power Rankings Week #29.

Republicans

1st: Mitt Romney (steady) Iowa and NH leads keep him in the #1 status even though his national polls are weak. Really 2 early wins hwoever could thrust him into the lead. New Hillary match-ups show him close to beating her in the general election.

2nd: Rudy Giuliani (steady) Led the pack in fundraising and remains on top nationally, basically making him the frontrunner, however polls in early states dont look good and many are starting to question his America'a Mayor title after the Fireman's union's attacks.

3rd: Fred Thompson (steady) More and more states are swinging his way and a win in South Carolina could give him the south for sure. Thompson is surging to become the favorite of the 1st tier.

4th: John McCain (falling) McCain's campaign is near death, with the news of his campaign becoming broke. He has shut down offices in Michigan and Iowa and is now concentrating on NH and South Carolina to keep him alive. Both are now must wins for his campaign and if the big 3 on top hold on to the lead McCain could be squeezed out, but McCain has said he will not drop out.

5th: Newt Gingrich (steady) Gingrich may be too late in enetering this race with the race for cash in its 3rd quarter. He will be far behind cash hounds Giuliani and Romney.

Democrats

1st: Hillary Clinton (steady) Her little slip with John Edwards hasn't seem to hurt her campaign and she still remains way out in front. If Hillary wins Iowa I think the campaign for the Democrats will end quickly.

2nd: Barack Obama (steady) His cash in the bank still gives him an advantage, but one wonder where is all this money coming from since Hillary has about twice as much support in polls.

3rd: John Edwards (steady) Iowa is now a must win for his campaign and he has started to fall behind Hillary in Iowa polls. If he does lose Iowa I see him quitting the race early on.

4th: Bill Richardson (steady) Richardson has really turned his campaign around. New polls out of NH show him only 4 points behind the Edwards and 10 points from the lead. Could he be the darkhorse in the campaign? Its not likely.

5th: Joe Biden (falling) Biden is losing publicity and many dont even now who he is or that he is runnign for president. He doesn't have the money to air ads like Richardson so he may have a harder time turning his campaign around.
