This week we will have these rankings on our Talk Show so go to
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/politics-central to listen.
Republicans:
1st: Mitt Romney (steady) He still is winning in Iowa and NH according to polls so that gives him a lead.
2nd: Rudy Giuliani (steady) National Polls have evened and Thompson is starting to pull ahead in polls, but Rudy still remains on top even after attacks on his 9/11 image from the fire fighters union.
3rd: Fred Thompson (rising) He is set to announe after Labor Day and is now starting to lead in national polls. He hasn't even annouinced yet and the pro-choice lobbyst scandal has already hit his campaign. He may be leading but he hasn't got this in the bag not by a long shot.
4th: John McCain (steady) Still sticking to his guns even with his campaign falling a part he is hoping to pick up the pieces after 2 horrible months.
5th: Newt Ginigrch (steady) His national polls now are weak but in early states he remains strong the the unstatisfactory with the GOP candidate now may help him when he does get into this race.
Democrats
1st: Hillary Clinton (steady) Hillary remains on top everywhere except for Iowa and South Carolina. Hillary may be leading it to a blow out next year. If she continues this lead she will win the nomination by a landslide.
2nd: Barack Obama (steady) Obama's fundraisng to keeps him a viable candidate and he has taken the lead in South Carolina. Hillary doesn't have this completely locked up yet but is pretty close.
3rd: John Edwards (steady) Needs to hold to Iowa. Without a win there his campaign will die fast but with hsi wife in the spotlight all the time he may get the publicity he needs, but he needs to be careful with Elizabeth.
4th: Bill Richardson (steady) New NH polls put him in 3rd ahead of Edwards. Could he be the darkhorse candidate we have been talking about. His ads have really helped pick up his campaign in Iowa and NH.
5th: Joe Biden (steady) His campaign remains dead, but is still trying to revive and trying to be a leading U.S. Senator. Can he be both a presidential candidate and a U.S. senator?

Personally, I wonder if the republicans will have a candidate who has locked up the nomination prior to the convention. A liberal republican like Rudy will not make it at the convention. And Romney's religion is a bit of a problem as he'd be the first party nominee from a true cult. That leaves Thompson & Newt. And that may very well be the party's ticket- in one way or another.
As to the dems, look for Clinton to get the nod- but is she really 'electable'? There's as much passion for her as there is against her. I think she will do poorly with the independants.
What about McCain? he isn't done yet.
